Farr 6000 Trailer Yacht 'Mariska' at the Aviemore Classic

Farr Trailer Yachts

Farr Trailer Yachts made their first appearance on the yachting scene in 1977. The original model was the 6.0 metre (20 ft) Farr 6000.

The combination of the legendary Bruce Farr's design talent and the vision of Kim McDell of Sea Nymph Boats resulted in a boat that was distinctively different from the mainstream trailer sailers of the time.

The Farr 6000 was an instant sucess in New Zealand and Australia and this led to the expansion of the range with the larger Farr 7500, the smaller Farr 5000 and the dedicated speed machine, the Farr 740 sport.

The Farr Trailer Yachts are not currently in production.

  Farr 6000

The first Farr Trailer Yacht and the most numerous, the Farr 6000 set a new standard for excellent performance combined with extraordinary accommodation for its size.

Easily handled by family crews its one design rules ensure it is also keenly raced in club and class events.

Despite being out of production the Farr 6000 remains one of the most sought after trailer yachts in Australasia because of its all round versatilty.

  Farr 7500

Largest of the Farr Trailer Yachts, the Farr 7500 is a spacious perfomance cruiser.

The 7500 has a 'big boat' feel below and has ample room to accommodate a family on extended cruises while still maintaining a degree of privacy.

The Farr 7500 is a popular club and fleet racer.

  Farr 5000

The Farr 5000 is the perfect small cruiser racer, comfortable, safe and easily sailed.

It has accommodation for four within a surprisingly roomy cabin and can be comfortably cruised with a couple or small family.

Farr 5000s are actively raced in a number of fleets around New Zealand and Australia.

  Farr 740 Sport

While the Farr 740sp is the uncompromising speedster of the Farr Trailer Yachts range, it still offers comfortable cruising accommodation for four in a performance orientated package.

Despite being small in numbers the 740s are the only Farr of the range found outside Australasia. There are a number of them on the lakes of Northern Italy.

Many thanks to David Rice of Darwin NT Australia for compiling the Farr 740 section of this site.
