Do You Own A Farr Trailer Yacht ?
Joining the Farr Trailer Yacht Association is the the
best investment you can make in preserving the value
of your boat and the future of your class. The Association
is committed to assisting owners to get the maximum
value and enjoyment from their boat while continuing
to keep them sailing.
The Association was formed in 1977 and was originally
known as the Farr 6000 Association. The name was changed
to the current one as the other Farr trailer yachts
were added to the line up.
The Association exists to promote the interests of
Farr 6000, Farr 5000, Farr 7500 and Farr 740 trailer
yachts and to be a medium of exchange for the owners
of the yachts.
The Association also acts as the sole regulating authority
for the Class Restrictions and Rules for these Trailer
Yacht classes in New Zealand.
The classes have been maintained to a strict one-design
rule over the years. This has helped maintain their
appeal as family cruiser-racers where the emphasis is
on sailing skill rather than wallet driven performance.
As an added bonus this policy has contributed to the
boats maintaining their excellent resale value.
National and regional championships, and match racing
are held for keen racers with the national event generally
alternating between the North and South Island. Cruising
and social events are organised where local concentrations
of the boats exist and owner frequently get together
at favourite cruising locations during the holiday season.
Membership is only $NZ20.00 and open to any Farr Trailer
Yacht owner. Owners outside of New Zealand may also
join the NZ Association as associate members. Belonging
to the association provides access to a large and valuable
pool of information about the boats that will help a
new owner get the most out of their boat.
